How do I save prompt values for future report runs in client portal?

BACKGROUND:
Cognos BI 10.2.2
SQL Server database (2014 I believe)
Relational data model
Current client portal embeds Cognos reports which are consumed by business without logging directly into Cognos.

STORY:
This is going beyond the capability of Cognos out of the box - I am trying to design an approach to allow users to save their prompt selections for future report runs, within their client portal. They currently have Cognos reports that are embedded in the client portal, and want the ability to modify report parameters, and save those parameters for future report runs. I would also like to be able to allow users to save report views.

Business user concept:

User runs a report, sets prompts, clicks "Save as view/favorite". The report view and prompts get saved somewhere with a name that is added to a new drop down list in the client portal.
The next time a user runs the report, they should be able to pick previously saved parameters, or report views. A view does not apply to multiple reports.

Is there a clean approach to designing this solution?
Has anyone come across similar requirement of saving prompt values in an external portal?
Any ideas or best practices on doing this?
Are there any products available that are complimentary to Cognos, that allow you to do this? (I haven't seen any My Favorites/My View concepts in any of the tools BSP/Avnet has, unless I'm mistaken.)

Thanks for your input!
