Sub Query and Optional Prompts

Experts -
I have a report with one main query, and a sub-query which forms the basis for the report data.  I also have some required as well as optional prompts filtering the main query and some more optional prompts filtering the sub-query. 

Running the report without the prompts (just regular filters) takes 5-10 minutes but with the prompts it takes 3 hours.  I have a hunch this is related to the optional prompts/filters on the sub-query but am not sure.

Any ideas?

what made you think its the prompts. anyway you can disable the prompts or you can give a constant value and try to run the report. if performance improves then at least part of the problem is with the prompts.

wait for other suggestions. as poor performance troubleshooting depends on a whole lot of factors.
