HI Gurus,
I am working on one POC of cognos 10.2.1 it is installed in windows2008 R2 server VM.
Now i want to set securities for reports,I dont have any domain controller in this machine(LDAP,ADS).
In earlier version 8.4 i have used local user through NTLM authentication, now i am not finding anything like this in cognos 10.2.1.
please any one help how to set the securities in this scenerio.

Thanks in advance
K.M

Hi,

NTLM was deprecated as an authentication provider a while ago. Your best bet is to get hold of a free LDAP such as ApacheDS with Apache Directory Studio as the front end.

HI MF,
Thanks for your support in guiding me.I try to do the same in my environment.
I already downloaded openldap and installed in my windows 2003 server and done the cognos configuration in 10.2 and it is success.
but i have a doubt where will a get the users from the openldap.

If i install apache DS also i need to know where can i go and create the user and use them for authentication, can you please help.

THanks in advance,
K.M

ApacheDS and OpenLDAP are both LDAP databases but what you also need is an LDAP browser (UI) to allow you to connect to the LDAP and enter/import users - something like Apache Directory Studio.

Cheers!

Hi All,

I have a single server dev instance and would like to incorporate user authentication for this.
I came across what GRIM proposed, though this article is for cognos8. Is this also good with cognos 10.2?
Or what can you suggest for this kind of setup?

I have not tried it, but it's essentially AD, so it should work fine. Shouldn't be a problem with Cognos 10.
