What don't you get? You can see the initial issue where the percentages for the rows are being calculated, then these percentages are being totalled for the overall GM% figure - which is incorrect. The article states

We want report studio to calculate the GM% after totalling the Revenue and GM columns

- in other words to calculate the percentage based on the totals for Revenue and GM. This means it has to be calculated after these totals have been produced. Solve Order allows you to define in what order calculations are performed. The RS User guide tells you this

The item with the lowest solve order value is calculated first, followed by the next lowest value, and so on.

Can you be specific about which part you don't understand?
