Hi All,

I am doing cognos 10.2.2 installation,
2 web servers
1 app server content manager1
1 app server content manager2/dispatcher 1
1 app server dispatcher 2.

Can i have more dispatchers in my environment. If so where should I add additional dispatchers?

Will load be distributed equally between all dispatchers?

Hi,

Can you clarify what you mean by "dispatchers" here? A dispatcher gets installed in any server that has either content manager or application server processing installed. Are you asking if you can add extra application servers? If so, the answer is yes. Where you install them is entirely your choice - they can be on real or virtual machines.

By default all the application servers in your instance (pointing to the same content manager) will know about each other and will load balance equally between each other automatically, using a "weighted round robin" approach. You can make it unequal by changing the server weighting parameter as appropriate on each application server - you might want to do this if, for example, one physical server has less cpu/memory than another.

Cheers!

Yes is the short answer.

I've recently installed cognos 10.2.2. with 4 Dispatchers (application Tier) on one server (because I was asked to)

I just installed them under:-
"D:\Program Files\ibm\cognos\C10_64\D1"
"D:\Program Files\ibm\cognos\C10_64\D2"
"D:\Program Files\ibm\cognos\C10_64\D3"
"D:\Program Files\ibm\cognos\C10_64\D4"

I have no idea what/if any benefit there is on a 64bit environment, years ago in Cognos 8 we did this all the time due to the 32bit limitations with memory.
