Report return data when in RS, but return no data available in cognos connection

Hello,

When I run the report in RS, report return data. However, when I try to run and save it from cognos connection, always get 'No Data Available', no matter what format: Excel, PDF as well as HTML.

We have a similar report which returns data when output as HTML. However, it returns No Data Available when running as Excel and PDF output. We fixed it by changing a running count query item from database processing to local. And report returns data for all output format. 

Then I did the same fix in my report, still get no data available when running in cognos connection for any output format.

Hi,

You haven't told us what your report is doing. We don't know how it's written, or what type of package / data source(s) it's based on. We don't know what filters and/or calculations you might have defined or how they are coded. We don't know anything, in fact, other than the fact you have a report that runs in one place and doesn't in another. I'd humbly suggest the only way someone could help in this situation is if they have telepathic, mystical powers that will somehow let them see all of this and deduce what's wrong. The alternative (and probably a safer bet on your part if you want people to be able to assist) is that you provide as much information about the report as you can...

my third eye tells me probably:

1. you have a saved output with no data in cognos connection. when you 'run' the report from cognos connection, the saved output with no data is displayed

2. you are running a view from cognos connection with filters that result to no data.

Thanks khayman and MFGF for your response! Sorry MFGF, the report is too complicated and hard to provide every details.

khayman, I checked on the possibility you listed, but seems not them:
1. The saved output time stamp shows it is the latest one which I just ran;
2. I run and save the report, I don't have view for this report.

From google search, I saw this kind of issue happened to somebody: report return data when output as HTML but no data return when output as Excel and PDF. And there is solution for this issue: change local processing to database processing.

But my case is different: report return data when running in RS, but when running in cognos connection, no matter what output format being used ( HTML, PDF, Excel), the output in content store has no data return

And still, we know nothing more than what MFGF said. Good guess by khayman on something to check, though.  8)

Seriously, you don't need to provide "every" detail, but SOME information would be useful to point out possibile problem areas.

this is just a shot in the dark but can you try setting your query to NOT use local cache?
