Multiple gateway instances on one server

Hi everyone,

OK, I've been asked this question and I'm pretty sure I know the answer but would like a sanity check please.

So, we're migrating a Cognos environment (well, part migrating as Cognos is part of an overall Websphere environment) and Cognos is installed on another server, however we were looking to install a second Gateway on an existing Gateway instance (the previous one is an older version); am I right in thinking that all we would need to do is install the Gateway component to a separate directory location to the previous instance and then setup an IIS virtual directory that points to this location, then update the Cognos Configuration to point to this?

Also, let us say that the Cognos instance is also used by other users and not just those coming externally. If we install a second Gateway for the external users and setup a Gateway namespace for them, would we need to make any changes to the Gateway URI setting in Cognos Configuration for the main instance? Or would it know if the request came from the external Gateway?

I hope this makes sense and someone can supply an answer....!

Cheers.
