Hi All,

We are making a report for check detail, where the vouchers booked against the check appear in the report. Please find the attached file for your reference.

When there is one voucher against the check, the report works fine. But is there are multiple vouchers booked against the check, then the line 12# in the report shifts its position.

What we want to achieve here is the line 12# in the report should hold its position irrespective of the number of vouchers booked against the check.

Kindly request you to guide me with my query.

Regards,

Also attached the structure of the report. We have used a list in to which we have inserted table rows for row numbers. for e.g. line 4# would be in the 4th row of the table.

I'm probably missing something, but how can that Line keep it's position if there's a variable number of lines above it? The best you can probably achieve is to have that information in a header type area and the details of the vouchers below it.

Hi BigChris,

Thanks for the suggestion. What we did is , we moved line 12# onward to the page body, where as keeping rest of the information in the page header. but still we notice that the line 12# is shifting its position.

Hi BigChris,

do u think such type of requirement is possible in Cognos ?

I have to admit that I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to achieve.

You certainly should be able to produce something like this:

Hi BigChris,

I referred the screenshot you send to me. yes m trying to achieve that but with additional data.

Attached herewith is the output of my report. As the check in my report has multiple vouchers. the line 12# has shifted to line 16#.

is there any way to fix the position irrespective of multiple vouchers ?

BigChris

No - if you've got 15 lines to list before the total line then it's going to come out at line 16. If you've got 84 lines to report before the total line then it's going to come out at line 85. Anything else just wouldn't make sense. My solution would be to have to the totals at the top of the list...

I agree with BigChris.

You might consider revisiting the business requirements. How do they want it to appear when four rows must fit in the space required for one row? Would they have you reduce the font? Reduce line spacing?  You have nine elements on each row so do they want you to use a repeater to string all 36 elements out in one line? What happens if there are 10 vouchers instead of just 4?

It won't physically fit as far as I can tell or else it will be about as readable as the bible written out on the head of a pin, so the requirement is suspect in my opinion.

What is the reason why something appearing on line 12 versus line 16 makes a difference?
