Page tab display sizes

I have created a page tab with a single Cognos Viewer portlet.
When I view the tab it renders just fine on my laptop screen and a desktop screen.

However, if I save the report in advance then view the tab the portal size is restricted to a set pixel height.
I can adjust this height, but that's no good if my customers use different screens.

I'm wondering if anyone has found a sensible workaround for this.
I need the tab to look good for both a small laptop screen and a larger desktop screen.

All good answers will be rewarded with imaginary beer and/or cookies.
