Changing DB type in catalog

A client has an existing installation of Cognos Impromptu 7.4 and is going to stick with it.

However, the underlying database that's being pulled from is going to change from Btrieve/Pervasive to MS SQL Server. The schema will stay essentially the same (some fields may flip between date and text).

It should be possible to just edit the catalog to point to the new DB server and provide the same environment, right? Will the reports themselves need to be changed as well?
