Hi all,

I have a question, might seem rudimentary but this is the first time that I've come across this issue.   When there are changes made to the underlying data structure (like adding fields to a data view),   does Framework Manager "know" to update the model automatically?  Or, do I have to go through and manually update everything?

Hi,

No, FM doesn't "know automatically". Updating your model to reflect structural changes is under the control of the modeller, and I wouldn't like it to be any other way.

Click on the data source query subject(s) that have changed (you can do Ctrl+Click if there are several), then choose Tools - Update Object. You should then have a QS which reflects the changed table or view.

ok, that's helpful.  I just wasn't sure.

if the data structure itself stays the same (field names, columns, etc), but gets updated with new data entries, will FM know to update the data?  Or will I have to update my model every time there is new data added inside a table or view?     This could be potentially burdensome if I have to keep re-updating and re-deploying the same package over and over again.

Updates and publishing the package again is not required when the data gets changed/added in the tables. That being said, there is caching in Cognos which may prevent sending the query to the DB for some time but you can disable the cache.
