Hi All,
I am new to COGNOS here, and i have been given a task to temporarily do some Admin tasks.
Basically everyone on Planet Earth is on Summer Vacation :)

I received a task wherein a particular user is able to see 2 pre-defined data sources for a report.
How do i define only one datasource for this user.

Thanks for the help guys

Regards,
Bharat

Hi

What the use is seeing are the 'connections' defined for the data source because he/she has access to both. If you remove his/her access from one of the connections then he/she will not get the prompt to choose. Cognos will automatically use the connection for which that user has the access. When the user has access to multiple connections then Cognos would need to know which one to use.

A Data Source is an object which is used to connect Cognos to the source via connections which are the objects which contain the information of how to reach the source.

In Cognos Administration, select 'Configuration', click on the Data Source and you will see both the conenctions. On the right side, click on the properties and you will see a 'Permissions' tab where you can set permissions for that user. By doing this, that user will always get the data from the connection for which he/she will have the access so you have to careful in deciding which one to give access to. You may want to find out as to why that user had access to both in the first place.
