Sample Framework model

Hi All,

I am new to the Cognos BI and am learning Framework Manager along with Report Studio.
I have seen a couple of sample databases that have been provided, but can't find any Projects/Packages along with it.
Are there any Sample Framework Projects and/or tutorial documents, which I can refer and learn different features in Cognos BI?

Welcome to Cognoise! :)

If you have installed the Samples on your Cognos server, you get sample FM projects to go along with the sample packages. Look in the install directory for Cognos 10 BI on your server in the install location eg

\Program Files\IBM\cognos\c10_64\webcontent\samples\models

You should find all the sample models for FM right there.

I have installed a 30 day trial version of Cognos 10.2.
I cannot find the path
\c10_64\webcontent\samples\models
in the installation directory.
Any ideas?

Hi,

You need the samples install too - it is a separate install from the basic BI installer.
Not sure if this is available with the trial version, though.

I can see IBM_Cognos_Samples.zip
under \Program Files\IBM\Cognos BI Developer Trial\deployment folder.
The contents of the folder are :
data (folder) (which has files 0.dat, 1.dat, 2.dat, .... 10.dat )
content.xml
exportRecord.xml
package1.xml
Is this what you're referring to?
Also, how to install the contents listed above?

That deployment contains sample reports.   MFGF is directing you to the ..\webcontent\samples\models directory, which is created by the installation of the samples.   If you install the samples you will have several sample projects.

Those files are internal files in a deployment.   You don't unzip the deployment.   

You copy it into the deployments directory of your Cognos server.   In Cognos Administration, you would import the deployment via the configuration/content administration/ New import functionality.

I was able to locate the sample projects and reports in the installation directory
webapps\p2pd\samples\models
