Hi Gurus,

This past few days we are migrating applications, macros, libraries, admin links, etc. from ibm cognos planning 8 to ibm cognos planning 10.1 There are applications that we cannot open. Does anyone know how to properly migrate the applications? it seems that it gets corrupted during the import. I wonder if 'Link to existing Applications' would help. And also, how to properly generate the script for publish containers? Should it really be recreated manually on the new server? May I also know the do's and dont's, and best practices on migrating.?

We had successfully imported other apps already. Don't know why there are few which comes from the same library that doesn't open. Any help is highly appreciated.

Big thanks and kind regards,
Tori

Hi All,

Still can't answer the best practices for migration, not yet an expert...hehe. Also want to hear from the other side. But, I'm replying to this post to answer the latter part of it.

On our case, the library is working good and if you create an application coming from that library, it would open the way it should. But, the migrated ones does not open. The problem is not on the library itself, our suspect was that the planning package name was causing the conflict. Noticed that the planning package name of the applications that does not open contains '&'. We resolved this issue by replacing '&' with a string "and", or by simply removing the '&' would do; saved the application then GTP with "Create Planning Package" checked. After doing that the applications can now be open. Don't know if there are other special characters that might conflict. But at least try to avoid special characters. Hope it helps.

Cheers!
