Options different between IE and Chrome

Hi - I'm not sure if I've posted this in the right forum category so please feel free to move it if necessary.

When I log into Cognos using Internet Explorer I get all of the options that I would expect. When I log on using Google Chrome, using the same URL and the same username, I only get a subset of those options. I've attached a screen capture of the two sets of options, which will hopefully make things clear.

Does anyone know what might be causing the difference, and what I need to do to make Chrome show all of the options that I'm expecting?

Thanks.

Hi Chris,

Looks like you're running an older build of Cognos 10? What you are seeing is, I suspect, correct - the UI is graduated on a per-browser basis to reflect the components that browser supports in the version of BI server you are running.

Here's what I see in FireFox and IE in Cognos 10.2.2:

and here's what I see in Chrome:

In earlier builds of Cognos 10, fewer options are supported in Chrome (and therefore visible in the Launch menu)

Cheers!

Ok, that would make sense. The version of Cognos that's running is 10.2, so it's fairly recent...

It's not critical since we tell all of our users to use IE - I just thought it would be good to get both browsers in line so that they could use whichever they prefer. For example, because you can't get to Report Studio, you can't edit an existing report in Chrome.

I'm using IE11 and the latest version Chrome by the way

I just checked the Supported Environments page, and in 10.2, the supported components in Chrome are Cognos Connection, Cognos Viewer and Cognos Workspace - exactly what you are seeing. In 10.2.1, IBM added support for Cognos Workspace Advanced and Report Studio - which is why I can see them in my Launch menu in 10.2.2. If you want users to be able to get to Report Studio in Chrome, you need to move to 10.2.1 or above :)

Cheers!
