How to change the Date format for a field in the Report

Hi Gurus,

How can we convert the format for a date field in 2015-04-02 02:00:00 AM to Apr 2,2015 02:00:00 AM format, when I change it in the properties on the data item field in the report it always doesn't work properly. So need some help in trying to achieve the above formatting by changing the format in data item rather than at the report level.

What is the problem using the display format? Your explanation "doesn't work properly" is unclear. Is your source relational? Is your date data item really a date datatype or is it a string?
