We are trying to replicate our production server in VM. Unfortunately they gave me a blank schema for content store to use. I exported the whole content store from our production environment and imported it in VM. I got the reports but now our security is not there.

Is there a simple way can I reconstruct our security setup in our VM environment?

Unless you are using the same authentication provider, the CAMIDs will be different, so none of the old security will tie in to your new authentication objects (users/groups). BSP have a tool that allows you to migrate your security easily - drop a line to Andrew Weiss and I'm sure he will be happy to explain how it works.
