Yesterday, we moved from IBM Frame 770 to 880. Though it is adding more capabilities to the hardware, I did not expect it would create problem with cognos configuration.  I have shutdown the cognos services before this maintenance.
Once I started the services after maintenance was over, I got following error when I opened cognos configuration:
[Validation] CAM-CRP-1280 An error occurred while trying to decrypt using the system protection key. Reason: javax.crypto.BadPaddingException: Given final block not properly padded

Searching on internet (below link), I understand the reason that the cognos jre has changed.
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21367460

How do I know which jre is being used currently by cognos and how to change it to old one.

I do not see any change in environment variables  for JAVA_HOME. I mean it was showing the old java path only.

Any suggestions what is this issue about and how to fix it.

Also, we have multiple applications like WebSphere, IHS, WebSeal, Informatica, Databases, nothing got impacted. The issue was faced only with Cognos.

Anyone has any idea?

Hi Nagoole,

Thanks for the reply. I also did the same thing. Regenerated the crypto keys.
But in case you can help me with the reason why did I got this error for Cognos, when all other applications did not face any issue.
