Error while sending emails from cognos

Hi All,

We have configured a SMTP server with the name smtp.office365.com with port 587 in the notification in cognos configuration. We have used a email id, username and password of a user which belongs to the domain and the tests have succeeded.

the issue here is that when we schedule reports, it throws up an error. please find the attached file for the error we are facing.

has anyone configured Send E-mail through Office 365 Using SMTP ?

Please share your thoughts on this.

From the error message it looks to me like the mail server is rejecting the requests. I would be looking at the mail server logs to see what is being reported there. That assumes that your mail server is logging things, of course :)

I am not sure if this might be the same issue. But I have faced a similar issue sometime back and found that the firewall needed to be disabled at the mail server level.

If firewall is the issue then below command will not work on your cognos server

telnet  smtp.office365.com  587
