I know there are so many Good books are available in Market  but I am not getting time to study because of my work pressure. Hi. Welcome to Cognoise!

MNC? Is that a Multi National Corporation? From your IP address it looks like you're working for a rather large and well-known financial institution. Have they really put you onto a Cognos project, knowing you have no experience in Cognos, and they are not giving you any chance or leeway to learn? Really? How can that make any sense? It's like putting someone with no geographic or driving skills into a car and expecting them to be a successful taxi driver. I really don't envy anyone in your position.

The honest truth is that you're not going to learn all you need to know from Youtube videos - even if you can find ones that cover the subject areas you're interested in. A good start for you would be for your employer to send you on the official training courses for Report Authoring and Metadata Modelling, and then to be mentored on the job by an experienced colleague.

The situation you describe is insane. How can an employer expect you to deliver anything in an environment you know nothing about? How can they not give you time to study and learn? Why would they put you on a Cognos project knowing you have no Cognos skills? It honestly makes no sense to me.

Good luck!

Tthere is some built-in (written) help in the products. Try the help menu within whatever studio you are using. But you will be floundering if that is your only option. While feature rich, the interfaces in the product assume you have some level of knowledge that is difficult to just pick up. This is especially true for Framework Manager, which is probably the most essential tool to master if you want to deploy Cognos successfully. There are remote training options, if they are balking at the expense of sending you somewhere. In any case, they are going to have to give you time unless they do not care how your implementation works out.

Honestly, I am with MFGF in that if they are expecting you to jump in and learn it without any access to even the most minimal education from someone knowledgeable... well, good luck. You're going to need it.

I know you asked for video, but I do not think you are going to find much for free. As you have see, you can find videos on YouTube, but the quality of the material will vary greatly. If you can spend money, or someone can pay for it, there are remote training options using Cognos from a number of places. These are generally with a live instructor and other students in what is essentially an online video conference.

I do not know your background, but if you do not already know BI then you need general BI foundational concepts, particularly data modelling and overall architectures for successful BI implementations. Once you have those down, you can use the user guides to see how to apply those concepts within Cognos. The book "The Data Warehouse Toolkit" by Ralph Kimball and associates might be a good starting point and is a popular text in the field.

I do not know what it costs, but TDWI has some great resources if you can join there.

It's a good choice, and there are lots of opportunities for people with good BI skills.

What is an RMG? Really Mad Guardian? Rabid Mental Goon? :-) Seriously, putting you on a project is fine, but only as a trainee who requires learning and mentoring. If they put you onto a project expecting you to deliver anything sensible on your own, there is something terribly wrong in their decision-making process, and it makes no business sense to do so. Either they are incompetent in doing this, or they somehow believe you are experienced in BI - which is it? If it's the former, you are working for a business that does not value employees or takes no interest in delivering a working solution, and you should seriously consider whether this is the type of employer you would like to associate yourself with. If it's the latter, you should tell them you have no current BI skills. Not to do so is fraudulent and could get you into a serious mess when they realise the situation (and, believe me, they will realise sooner or later).

That's a noble attitude, but you really have to take a step back and consider this from a practical standpoint. It's going to take you at least six months to get up to speed and to be able to deliver anything that is robust - and that's if you're really really good. You need to be able to practice and learn. That inevitably means getting things wrong and learning from your mistakes. It's a process everyone here has experience of, and there's no "magic bullet" that will suddenly make you a skilled and experienced Cognos developer overnight. Studying, attending training, practicing and learning on the job are all part of the process you need to go through to get the skills you desire. Youtube videos and lectures are only a small part of this, and you are honestly fooling yourself if you believe otherwise.

Why would you lose your job? The only reason I can imagine for this is if your employer believes you already have the skills for your role when you do not have them in reality. If this is the case, you should talk to them now and make them aware of your skill level. You may be surprised - they might be willing to support you and mentor you through a learning process.

Good luck!

In rajvivan's case it sounds more like Resource Mismanagement Group :) I am still at a loss to understand how they can allocate someone with no Cognos skills to a Cognos project and then expect the project to be successful. Either they are totally negligent, or else they have been led to believe rajvivan has skills he does not possess. I know from his IP address who he works for, and I find it really difficult to believe this institution could make such a fundamentally bad resource management decision. If they knew his real skill level, I doubt he would be in the position he finds himself in.
