Hi There,
I've just started a new job, and trying to learn Cognos 10.1 on the fly. I have some Cognos experience, but with an old version and simpler reports.
I'm having issues trying to emulate what is done on an older report written by an older programmer who is no longer here.

For one of my tables, two of my columns have sums. One of the columns that does not have a sum seems to contain a string that says Rate: <summary(currentRate)> and then has more txt after it.
When I click on the cell, I see literally nothing in the properties.
I'm wondering if anyone knows how this is done?

I've used Cognos before, but I would just use procs to generate my data and cognos to output it nicely in the past ...

Thanks,
Eric

I suspect the report was unlocked using the padlock icon on the toolbar and that text and data items were then dragged into the cell.

Some formal training would be well worthwhile.

Holy smokes, that was the answer all along.
I just needed to unlock the screen, then I can put multiple variables in the same cell.
Thank you so much all, it's really, really appreciated!
And yes, formal training is forthcoming :)

Glad that helped -- welcome to Cognos and Cognoise  :)
