Cannot connect to a datasource ( in FM) .. on a virtual machine

Hi,

If you could help :)

I encounter the issue on a virtual machine... i log in to that VM and open FM and try to add a datasource and i get the UDA-SQL-0031 error. ( with all the relevant sub errors) . The same thing happens when i try to test a query subject from a model built by a colleague of mine ( linked to the same datasource) , He can access it/test it and even create new models using the respective datasource , while i cannot ...

This query contains an error and can not be executed.

It is recommended that you view the query feedback on the "Query Information" tab.

QE-DEF-0285 The logon failed.
QE-DEF-0325 The logon failed for the following reason:
RQP-DEF-0068 Unable to connect to at least one database during a multi-database attach to 1 database(s) in:
DEV

UDA-SQL-0031 Unable to access the "DEV" database. Check that the connection parameters to the database are configured correctly. For example, ensure that the data source connection contains the signon information, such as a password, to connect to the database.
UDA-SQL-0107 A general exception has occurred during the operation "attach".

So this is all happening on the virtual machine... my colleague gave me the same access as he has on the VM.. or at least it seems so...

Any thoughts are welcomed ...

Hi,

If you are using CQM access, Framework Manager will need its own local connection to the data source. This means having the database client / ODBC driver set up on the machine running FM. My guess is that your VM does not have this?

Things are a little different if you are using DQM access. For these connections, the BI server is used to connect to the data source rather than a local connection from FM. Since your colleague can connect but you can't, I think it rules out this.

Cheers!

MF.

thanks for the quick reply :)

However, i'm a  bit slow and i don;t get it :)

The package is not built on dynamic query mode, so  this means that the database client / ODBC driver needs to be set up on the machine running FM, as far as I get it .. but how is that my colleague can access it ?  We both log in to the same VM.

thanks

You both log into the same VM? The actual same VM or two different copies of the same original VM?

If it is the same physical VM, then it sounds like it is down to access permissions? Are you both using the same database signon in the data source connection?

Hi,

on the same VM.. but finally it was about permissions.  Fix it

many thanks :)

Can you please post here, how did you fix the access issue.
