Hi All,

I have a requirement to convert Cognos 10.2.1 charts to legacy charts, where in 10.2.1 column clustered charts we have a option to display nested labels on x-axis, we want to replicate the same in legacy charts. Basically we are nesting two data items in Categories (x-axis). We are unable to rotate and display the labels on x-axis either to 45 degrees or 90 degrees as well as unable to display the labels on x-axis in nested from in legacy charts similar to 10.2.1 charts.

Sample below of 10.2.1 chart.

                |
y-axis title  |
                |
                |
                |_______________
                 X    A    D    T
                 Y    B    E     K
                 Y    C    F     L
                 1    4    8     9
                 2    6    0     3

Sample below of legacy chart.

                |
y-axis title  |
                |
                |
                |_______________
                 XY..    AB..    DE..    TK..
                 12      46      80      93

Unable to rotate the values to 90 degrees in the legacy charts.

Someone can you please help me, your help is much appreciated.

Thanks & Regards,
XYZ

I'm not sure you can do this - the features supported in the legacy charting engine are not as advanced as those in the AVS engine in Cognos 10. Why do you need to use legacy charts? If AVS gives you what you need, why not hust use this engine?

Hi MFGF,

Thanks for the reply, actually as we were having some release, where as the release requirement, we want the charts in simple look and feel that is the reason we are going for legacy charts.

As you mentioned, possibilities are less, I am thinking is there any other way of achieving my requirement.

Couldn't you use AVS charts and make them look like the legacy ones (plain colour palette, no glossy finishes, no rounded edges etc)? If the charts give you what you need but don't look simple enough, why not just make them look simpler?

Thanks for the reply MFGF,

I also suggested the same as you mentioned to use the  10.2.1 charts but will make it look simple. But they are not okay with it. Any how I will talk to my counterpart and update you with any updates I have.
