Hi Team,

I'm facing error while starting the IBM Cognos environment 10.1 on our Development server.

The issue was due to the unintended removal of Content Manager login credentials. We have created the same login credentials again and mapped it to the same Content Manager. The Content Manager connection was tested successfully. However, the Cognos service is facing issues while starting. Have provided the error message received as attachement.

DPR-DPR-1026 Unable to register the dispatcher in Content Manager.
DPR-DPR-1035 Dispatcher detected an error.
CFG-ERR-0106

Please check attachment for more details. Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks folks.

How many servers are there in your env ?

In fact how many content managers and dispatchers ?

If more than one content manager servers are there, it can be th chance that your second CM has become active, but your dispatcher is still refering to other CM which was previously active.

Just stop all CM services and dispacther services.

Start any one CM service, once successfull start of CM. Start the dispacther service.
Thanks
SK

Hi Sunosoft,

We have two servers one for Oracle DB and the other for Cognos. We have only one content manager and dispatcher. What could be the solution in this case.
Thank you.

Hi,

Please read the below, paying particular attention to point 2.

http://www.cognoise.com/index.php/topic,24030.0.html

If you have an urgent or mission-critical problem, you should log it with the support desk at IBM. They are there 24/7 to assist with issues, and they will respond within an agreed time, depending on your level of support. Pressing for immediate answers on a volunteer-populated forum is both futile (as nobody is paid to respond and everyone has their own jobs to do and issues to deal with) and will probably also serve to irritate anyone who might be prepared to spend their own time helping you. In short, it's a rude and counter-productive thing to do.

In the meantime you can probably help your cause by posting as much information about your setup and issue as you can. There are lots of questions you haven't provided any detail for, eg
What does "unintended removal of content manager login credentials" mean, for example? Did the content store connection get amended? Did the database login change? Was the database login deleted? Was the database deleted? What database are you using for your content store? Have you created a new content store database? Are there Cognos services on both machines or just one? If both, what services are on what machines? What happens when you use the "Test" option for the Content Store in Cognos Configuration?

Giving us an error message and no other details, then pushing for an answer when nobody responds, makes it seem like you're reluctant to put any effort into communicating your issues, but instead want someone to provide a magic solution using clairvoyance to somehow know how you have configured your instance.

Hi MF,

I didn't meant to irritate anyone and was looking for suggestions and help to resolve the issue. I apologize if my language was rude and will follow the forum etiquette henceforth.

Let me give some  more details about the issue. We have two servers, one for Cognos application (Cognos services) and the other for Oracle DB server. The content store is configured with the Oracle DB. The solution was working fine till last week. Due to some reasons the content store and Audit Logging database logins were deleted.
We created the same login credentials again and mapped it to the same Content Manager. The Content Manager connection was tested successfully using the 'Test' option. However, when we start Cognos service we are facing issues.

Please let me know if you require any other information.

Thank you.

mrcool

Did you try deleting the content store connection and recreate again?

Hi,

It's still unclear what you mean when you say that the database logins were deleted. Do you mean that the user in Oracle was deleted, or just the signon definition to the content store in Cognos Configuration? What do you mean by "we created the same login details again and mapped it to the same content manager"? You only have one content manager. Do you mean you amended the existing content store definition in Cognos Configuration to use the new credentials? For a new Oracle user or the same one?

If I was guessing, I'd suspect you are using a different user in Oracle to connect, and this user does not have the requisite database privileges to allow the content store tables to be amended? Is this possible?
