 Hi All,
We need to start with creating a powerplay cubes.I am not able to find the exact software which is needed
But the thing is which software do I need in order to create a power play cubes.

Can you provide me the information of the latest version of cognos software which is neede to craete a powerplay cubes?

Doubts I am having are as follows:
1.  Are powerplay cubes software a standalone separate server or it needs to be installed in existing BI server?
2. This software needs to be installed separately or in the existing location of BI cognos server?

Thanks & Regards

PowerPlay cubes are modelled and built using a tool called Transformer. The cubes can be created and used standalone using PowerPlay Client, and/or they can be made available as data sources in Cognos 10 BI and used in any of the Cognos 10 authoring tools.

You can install Transformer on your local machine if you wish, and/or you can install it on your server, whichever is most appropriate for you.

I would add that you can publish and deploy the cubes to the server using Transformer.

Is there a driving reason for using PowerPlay cubes? They are for the most part not being enhanced any further, as far as I can tell, and there are newer ways of storing and presenting dimensional data (dynamic cubes, DMR, etc.). Nothing wrong with PowerPlay cubes as long as you understand the limitations and have good reasons for using them. We do use them here, primarily for performance reasons.
