Cognos 7 Transformer can use Cognos 7 access methods to read data, and Cognos 7 security to secure dimensions etc. Cognos 10 Transformer has the ability to also use Cognos 10 reports and packages as data sources, and to utilise security defined in a Cognos 10 BI instance. IBM also made some good performance improvements in terms of metadata caching in the cube, cube build times and cube optimisation between these versions too.
