Hi All,

I am seeing very weird issue in my environment. OS: Windows 7 Enterprise(64), IE8, oracle client 32-bit installed.

I have installed Cognos FM 10.2.1 on one among my user's machine. Installation was done successfully but where as when I was trying to launch Cognos Configuration it is throwing me the following error message

"unable to open the requested application. The application cannot load. Ensure that all related files are in the original installation location".

But where as I am able to launch from my end(my machine) also from the same users other machine.

I have checked his permissions on the machine(he got admin access on his machine). Also I checked launching the application from various ways from command prompt, from the location. None of them worked.

Anyone has come across this situation please share me your experiences.

Thanks
J

Sounds to me like an incomplete or corrupt install of Framework Manager on that specific machine. Uninstall it, remove the install folder, then try the install again.

Thanks for your advise,

I did uninstall the fm from his machine and did the fresh installation.  Still noticed the same issue on his machine.
Before installing the same product on user's machine I installed it on my machine (I don't have any issues).  But user has the same problem.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
J

Have you checked this link?

It's an old one for ReportNet but looks like a common issue from google search

Thanks for your reply Coggie,

Yes you are correct the settings they were referring in the IBM site was old.  It does not work that way.  I am planning to do the following to complete this task
1. copying the fm.ini file from my working one and put it in his machine and try
2. validating the environmental variables to setup the java classpath.
3. validating the permissions on the configuration folder (What permissions he has (read/write...etc) make sure he has all permissions on that folder where we are trying to open the cognos configuration file.
Does anyone has any working solution?  Please share me.
Note: If any one of the approach works fine will update the same here...

Thanks
J

I tried all the approaches I have mentioned in my earlier email communication.  None of them are working for me.
Any Ideas?

Thanks

That's very odd. Can you ensure that the Cognos Configuration shortcut in the Start menu is pointing to the place you installed FM? Have you tried right-clicking and selecting "Run as Administrator"?

Other than this, you should probably get this logged with IBM support.

Good luck!!

Just a thought, but do they have any other pieces of Cognos installed on the same machine? If so, are you installing to a separate folder? I normally install each product in its own location, as I have had problems trying to put them into the same folders.

Just an idea, otherwise I agree you should probably log a problem with IBM.
