Hi,
does anyone know how to set capabilities on FOLDER, that one user, which is a member of Authors and Express Authors groups, can open reports in that folder only in Workspace Advanced?
The problem is, why there is no capability on FOLDER for Workspace Advanced? But there is for Query Studio, Analysis Studio and Report Studio.
I read this but is not helping: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21593254
thanks

What do you mean by only Workspace Advanced? You can deny them the capability for QS etc if that's what you want.

The link you provided is correct. I have set the permissions like that and it works. If the document says too much then just do this:

Go to Admin/Security/User Interface Profiles, select properties for Professional and Express and allow the permission there.

Thanks for response.
What is on that link is working for me too but I wanted to say it is for other but similar purposes.
In general, permissions, capabilities and user interface works fine with cognos built-in groups and default capabilities, but things get complicated if you have the same users in many groups and if you want special capabilities on particular folders for special group.

I have strange requirements, on one folder Authors and Express Authors should open reports only in Workspace Advanced (WA) and not in Report Studio, QS etc. I can't make it.
As I see IBM is pushing forward WA and so called self service analytics, but I don't know why they didn't add WA in Capabilities on its own, specially in folder's capabilities.
We have 10.2.1.

I suspect the complication here is that Workspace Advanced *is* Report Studio - just with a different skin. There is no specific capability for WA - just control over user profiles to dictate which skin you get (either or both). In 10.2.2 you have almost infinite control to customise the skins too - so you can create versions of WA with as few or as many capabilities as you desire - all the way up to full-RS capabilities.

MF - How to configure WA? Are there settings somewhere?

In 10.2.2 yes. You can create custom user profiles for WA which dictate exactly which capabilities/tools/properties etc appear in the UI. After a default install the user profiles remain as they are in 10.2.1 - ie in the Security tab in Admin. You can convert these to the new system using a button in the top right corner (I forget what it is labelled). The user profiles then move to the Library tab, and you get two standard ones you can't alter (one for RS and one for WA) but you can copy these and edit the copies to suit whatever you need them to do.
