Hi ALL,

I have a olap cube and  one dimension is distributor it has levels like region, distributor and reps...

I am creating a relational source with Distributor and  Email ID as columns.

Now my report will have a master detail relationship between these two.

Now the issue is For a distributor if I have multiple email id's ? how do I handle this..

how should my relational table be ?

Thanks,
Nithya

You could perhaps set up a distribution list in the Admin Console, and use the CAMID of this instead of an email address?

Hi MFGF,

That sounds the correct approach.

Say I have already a group created say Managers-West and added five people from Active Directory to this group.
Now I have a data item in my cube for West Region.

So Now I will have a relational table with West Region and a Cam ID value mentioned for the Managers-West group.

But where will I mention these five email ids.

I created a distribution list and named it say sendmailwestregion and added the group Managers-West in it.

Now where do I mention those five email ids.
Is there a way to add email ids to the distribution list.

I am stuck at this point and any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks,
Nithya

You don't need to. Assuming your email addresses from AD are visible in a user's "My Preferences" page (ie the Cognos server knows about them in AD) you don't need to specify them explicitly for bursting or emailing. When you select the "Burst to email" option the addresses will be retrieved for the members of the group used as the burst key.

MFGF,

Say my group has five users and I have added this group to y distribution list. cognos will take care of getting their email id s from the their preferences right?

If there is no ID mentioned there ,are if I want to use a different ID then can I go my distribution list set properties and  add set the contact and choose email address and give it by comma separated.

I am not sure of how this will work.

Also, I tried bursting the report. I faced 2 issues.

1) when I had sent the report to my gmail for testing the formatting and borders of cross tab was missing.WHen the whole report was send option selected. If we send the report link then they must have access to cognos right, it asks for login.

2) Cant I use prompts in my burst report. It bursts the report for the default prompt. Does that mean the report sent cant be filtered on any filters.

I created distribution list and added the required contacts in it. And used the cam ID of the distribution list for bursting.

As of formatting there is some formatting issues in gmail, but works fine with outlook.
