Hi Gurus,

I came to know that Report studio objects like List / Cross Tab reports can act like Data source for Cognos Dynamic cubes, but out of my curiosity I have one question if anyone can answer that can we use Model query subject alone as Data source object in Cognos dynamic cubes. Please reply?

Kind Regards
Tarun

You did?? Where did you get this information from? Wherever it came from you should go back to the provider of this priceless gem of wisdom and tell them gently but in no uncertain terms that they could not be more wrong if their life depended upon it. :)

Nope. You can't. You can't use model query subjects or data source query subjects or stored procedure query subjects or any sort of query subjects as data sources for Cube Designer (ie for Dynamic Cubes). You can't use reports either. The only data sources that can be used in Cube Designer are relational databases that can be accessed via Dynamic Query Mode, and which are listed as being available for use in Dynamic Cubes in the Cognos 10 Supported Environments page.

I'm wondering if you are confusing Dynamic Cubes with PowerCubes? PowerCubes are a totally different technology, built using Transformer not Cube Designer. In Transformer you can use reports as data sources and you can use published packages too - including model query subjects. Is this what you mean?
