Crosstab spaces with text randomly not rendering in rows

I've inherited a Report Studio report containing a number of crosstabs (about 20 in total) from a TM1 cubes.  The crosstabs contain a number of text items/crosstab spaces in the rows to provide some headers for some members and/or sets (eg. 'Expenses Total').  Problem is that despite all the text items/crosstab spaces being created in the same fashion, some of them are randomly not making it into the report output.  They are all their own nodes, so not nested under members or sets.

It seems like a bug to me but wondering if anyone has had this issue before and what you identified as the cause?
