Hi,

Following error is retrieved upon trying to install Fix Pack 4 for Cognos Business Intelligence 10.2.1, Application Tier Component.

"You cannot install this version of the product over a previously installed version. Please choose another directory".

References I found indicate I may not be using proper base version but the only requirement, according to IBM (http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg24038092) is to have 10.2.1. Earlier fixes are OPTIONAL.

Below is information extracted from my cmplst file:

[Product Information]

C8BISRVR_version=C8BISRVR-AW64-ML-RTM-10.2.5000.275-0
C8BISRVR_name=IBM Cognos Business Intelligence Server

[Product Update Information]

C8BISRVR_UPDATE_NC_10.2.5000.1030_version=C8BISRVR-AW64-ML-RTM-10.2.5000.1030-0 C8BISRVR_UPDATE_NC_10.2.5000.1030_name=IBM Cognos Business Intelligence Server Update C8BISRVR_UPDATE_NC_10.2.5000.1046_version=C8BISRVR-AW64-ML-RTM-10.2.5000.1046-0 C8BISRVR_UPDATE_NC_10.2.5000.1046_name=IBM Cognos Business Intelligence Server Update

[Main Applications]

C8BISRVRRS_version=C8-AW64-ML-RTM-10.2.5000.275-0
C8BISRVRRS_name=IBM Cognos Business Intelligence Server Application Tier

Any clues?

Thanks.

Karti

Something throws me off with the Product Update Information portion. When I look at mine, I have:
[Product Update Information]

C8BISRVR_UPDATE_version=C8BISRVR-AW64-ML-RTM-10.2.5003.113-0
C8BISRVR_UPDATE_name=IBM Cognos Business Intelligence Server Update
(BTW I am running FP3)

I can see you are running base Cognos 10.2.1, but the fact that there are 2 sets in that area makes me think something wasn't installed right. I could be wrong though.

Have you brought this to IBM's attention?

Hi Karti,

Thanks for your response.
It actually refers to a couple of updates implemented (by previous administrators) on the environment.
I couldn't get in touch with IBM as customer hasn't got IBM Customer Number to raise PMR's.  :-\

Karti, all

I've just identified that both C8BISRVR-AW64-ML-RTM-10.2.5000.1030-0 and C8BISRVR-AW64-ML-RTM-10.2.5000.1046-0 were installed over a 32 bits Application Server.  :-\
Would you know what would be the change/impact over original version? Would it just turn onto a 64 bits instance?

Thanks.
