Using Flattened Company Structre

Hi,

I just wanted to check the opinions of Cognos Controller experts about using flattened company structure in Controller. Is there any disadvantage of using flattened hierarchy rather than a hierarchy that truly represents the subgroups within the main group? Do we loose any accuracy in the consolidated numbers in such a flattened hierarchy?

What I mean by flattened hierarchy: Here is an example. Company A owns company B with 60%. Company A owns company C with 35%. Company B owns 40% of Company C. In this case, we create the group X for the consolidation of Company A. Group X has three companies under itself, Company A with 100%, Company B with 60%, Company C with 59% (=0.35+0.60x0.40).

Thanks in advance to those who share ideas on this topic.
