Hi All,

When I log in as system administrator  and run the report from a folder , the drill down works for that report. But when I run the same report from the same folder as a different user then drill down is not working.

This user doesnt have access to report studio, but admin has access.

Even though this user doesnt have access to report studio he is able to see and run the reports.

Where should I set any permissions for drill down to work. Able to see the link, but on click nothing happens.

Thanks,
Nithya

Is the drill down in the same folder as the main report??  If not, does the user have read/traverse to the folder that the drill down is in?

Users do not need RS to use drill-downs. Like squish88 was getting at, make sure the user is able to navigate to and run the target report. If this is a package-level drill-through, there are permissions to the dtd that could be in play.

Another thing you can check... If they right-click the link, they should get a popup menu with a submenu "Go To", and that submenu should include the target report.

There is only one report and its not a drill through. I have just enabled drill down behaviour. Its a dimensional reporting and would go down by the hierarchy defined.

It works when run as admin and not as other users.

Thanks,

Hi,

Is this a report being run using the Cognos Viewer, or has it been put into a Cognos Workspace and is being used from within there?

Hi MFGF,

Cognos viewer and I go to Ibm Cognos Connection and there is a folder in which these reports are present.

Thanks,
Nithya

Ok. When logged in as the user, what happens when you attempt the drill-down action - do you end up with a single row or does it just have no effect on the report at all? Is it the same browser as the admin?

That's puzzling. Is it just one user, or do you get the same issue with all non-admin users?

Its with all non admin users..they have been all under one group created.

This all feels like security settings to me. Assuming the non-admin users have Query Studio could you try creating something similar as them in there? If you can drill up and down on the data in QS that might help to identify if there's something set in Framework Manager for example.

Does the group have any of the Cognos Viewer capabilities? I suspect this might be what is missing? Go to the Admin Console > Security tab > Capabilities, and check first of all if the group has Execute and Traverse privileges to the main Cognos Viewer capability, then go to the sub-capabilities below Cognos Viewer and do the same for each of the four.

Cheers!

Hi MFGF,

I tried checking the cognos viewer capabilities and that group was not there and I add that group with traverse and execute permissions and now the drill down works..

But these users also get access to report studio. They are able to open and create reports..

I am not sure how to make this unavailable.

Even if there was no entry here they were able to run the reports via cognos connection.I dont want them to have access to report studio.

Thanks,
Nithya

Check the group they belong to has no access within the Report Studio capability. Also check they are not there in User Interface Profiles.
