Hi Gurus,
I have a question on installing the 10.2.1 BI Server. I see that there are 3 fix packs for 10.2.1 (FP1, FP2 and FP3). My question is is it enough to install FP3 directly over 10.2.1 (and all issues addressed in FP1 & FP2 will be included) or should I install FP1, then FP2 and then finally FP3 over the 10.2.1 BI Server installation?

Thanks,
Paddhu

They are cumulative. You only need to install the latest fix pack.

Yep - as Bob says. This wasn't the case until FP3 arrived, though - the mix of required fix packs and interim fixes before this was challenging.

You can go straight to fix pack 3. There is also an Interim Fix 6 update that was released after fix pack 3, so this might be worth adding too. Don't forget to patch your client installs too (FM, Cube Designer etc)

Cheers!

I just installed BI FP4 on 10.2.1.   No problems so far.

Cool! Another fix pack - looks like this one came out on 15th August. :)

Thanks for the answers people. Will check the FP4 and use it. However I also see they have planned a FP5 by Dec'14. That's a lot of planned FPs.

That's four months away... :)

As I recall, fix packs usually come out 2-4 times a year. Sometimes the fix packs actually add features, but mostly they are bug fixes.

I would rather have my fixes sooner than later, but maybe that is just me.  8)

Correct. IBM has stated in the past (Can't find the link now) to try and provide FPs quarterly (March, June, Sept, Dec). Sometimes certain bugs/issues crop up, but they've been pretty close to their promise.

I'm with you bd, having patches fixing my apps is like fixing a leaky boat. A patch sooner than later is much better than having a leaky boat and the possibility of sinking.
