Hi All,

I am new to active reports and cognos workspace.

I usually create reports in reportstudio and then drag them in cognos workspace and cognos security takes care of showing appropriate data based on user login.

I similarly created an active report and tried to drag in workspace , it asked me to use a saved report. Then I scheduled my active report to run on a specific time. Then I used this report in workspace.
Now when this report is run with different logins the security on data is not maintained, it has all the data showing.

Since its a saved report will it not follow the basic cognos security defined.

Thanks,
Nithya

Hi,

You need to think of an Active Report in the same way as you would think of a saved report output. The report doesnt run-on-demand, you are simply viewing an MHT that has already been created, so any FM-based or database filters are irrelevant at this point. If you wanted multiple secured saved outputs, you would use report bursting to render a different output for each relevant group, and the same is true with an Active Reports too.

Cheers!

How do we handle this ?

In exactly the same way as you burst any other report - the approach is the same. :)

This is the first time I am going to do bursting.
Hence not sure how to implement the same.

Thanks for the link.
Will try this and update.

Also, how and where to find the CAM Id and what is the significance of it ?

CAMIDs are the internal security identifier Cognos uses for each role/group/user etc. You can see the CAMID of a user/group/role by going to the Admin Console > Security tab > Users, Groups and Roles then going into the namespace that contains the user/group/role and then finally into the properties of that user/group/role. On the General tab of the Properties page, there is a link over on the right - View the Search Path, ID and URL. When you press this you can see the CAMID of that object in the Search Path area.

Cheers!
