Hello Friends,

I have installed Cognos 10.2 and facing an error while trying to configure the Authentication Namespace.

Below is the error that I am getting while trying to test the Namespace.

[ ERROR ] AAA-CFG-0013 The format of the XML file 'testHandlerConfig.xslt' is incorrect. Please check the file and try again.
[ ERROR ] javax.xml.transform.TransformerConfigurationException: org.xml.sax.SAXException: failed to instantiate an object of
class 'org.apache.xerces.parsers.SAXParser'
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.apache.xerces.parsers.SAXParser
[ ERROR ] org.xml.sax.SAXException: failed to instantiate an object of class 'org.apache.xerces.parsers.SAXParser'
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.apache.xerces.parsers.SAXParser
[ ERROR ] java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.apache.xerces.parsers.SAXParser.

Could anyone suggest you a solution to this problem.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi,

It might help if you told us what authentication provider you are trying to configure, and how your configuration is currently defined? :)

However, today is looking quite good on the clairvoyance front. I have a mystic vision that you are using a custom java provider? If my supernatural powers are working, then this technote might be of some help:

Thanks MF for your quick response.

We are using Active Directory as an authetication provider.

The OS on the server is a 64bit and we are trying to install a 32bit Cognos server.

The IIS version is 7

Cognos Java version are as below
JDK vers is 7
and
JRE 7

OS Version is the same as congos.

Please let me know if I have missed out any information.

Thanks in advance.

Regards
Brad

Hmmm. Ok. AD should be easy?

Why are you using a 32-bit instance of Cognos 10 BI? I was pretty sure all current versions are 64 bit? Is it an old install?

What do you mean by "OS version is the same as Cognos"?

Did you follow the steps in Chapter 13 of the Installation and Configuration Guide:

http://public.dhe.ibm.com/software/data/cognos/documentation/docs/en/10.2.1.1/inst_cr_winux.pdf

What configuration options did you specify in Cognos Configuration?

Thanks for the help MF.

We uninstalled the 32 bit cognos version  and did a 64bit installation an it worked fine.

Was not sure, what was the reason why we were facing this issue .

But will try to analyse it some time later.

Becuase I believe that we can install a 32bit cognos on a 64bit operating system.

I had a couple of query.

1) Has cognos come out with a 64 bit version for FM, the license version of cognos that we have  is 32bit.

2) Will there be a problem if I install a 32bit FM on a 64bit OS

Thanks & Regards
Bradley

Hi,

Cognos server installs are generally 64-bit. I think 32-bit server installs are still available for Windows platforms, but why would you?

Framework Manager is a client tool, and is 32-bit only (and Windows-only). The idea is that you install it on your local machine and configure it to point to your server install. I run 32-bit FM on a 64-bit Windows laptop with no issues.

Cheers!
