hi, I installed cognos10 in computer A , now I want access the report from the extranet how should I set on A?
在congnos服务器(A)上做了个带钻取的报表,现在想在外网的电脑B上查看这个报表,已知A有可用的公网IP。
请问要达到上述要求cognos服务器该怎么设置?

Hi,

This isn't really an issue with Cognos at all - it is all down to how your network is configured and how your web server is configured. In theory, if your WAN users can see the web server, they should be able to use the Cognos URL. Talk to your networking guys and your web server admin to figure out how to set up access.

Cheers!

Depends what web server you are going to use IIS or Apache?
The quieter you become, the more you can hear

I have some networking background, but this may be difficult in a forum like this as there can be many variables. MFGF was correct in that this is really about the ability of an external user to reach the server that hosts Cognos Connection.

Can users VPN into your network? If so, that may be all you need, and they would use the same web address you do internally after connecting over VPN.

Do you have a firewall between your local network and the internet? If not - you should! If so, it is probably using NAT which means you have one public IP address for your company network. If so, you would need to find out the public IP which you can get from http://www.whatismyip.com. There are ISP (Internet Service Provider) dependencies as to your options to allow people to access the public address, and you should ask the ISP if they even allow this or not. Your ISP may also be using dynamic addressing, in which case this IP may change from time-to-time. They may offer a static, non-changing address, possibly for an additional fee.

Once you have this address, you likely have a router/firewall where your service connects to your network. That box will have to be configured to forward port 80 requests to your internal box. This varies greatly with the brand of router, but is usually done over a web page (try http://yourdefaultgatewayIP/). If you can determine the make/model, you can usually find the procedures via google searches. Once you have the port forwarding set up, try to use the http://mypublicIP/ to hit the Cognos server.

I hope that is enough to get you pointed in the right direction. Your ISP may be willing to help with details.
