Udate a D-List in Contributor

Does anyone know a way to update a dlist in contributor? I can do it in analyst but I can't get it to work in contributor. For example, in analyst I have a column in Cube-a as the source for a d-list. And that same d-list is used as a formatted item for Cube-b.  So I can enter or update data in cube-a open the d-list click update, then open Cube-b and view the changes I made. I’ve brought the same scenario over to contributor but I’m not able to update the d-list after I make changes to cube-a. Anyone have any suggestions on how I can make this work in contributor? Thanks

You cant do this in Contributor.

The only way you can update a dlist in Contributor is to update the list in analyst and syncronize.

simple as that.

Thanks for your input. Do you know of any work arounds for the same type of functionality that wouldn't require a sync or a GTP

Only way I can think of replicating the functionality you have is to use the first column to display the dlist items and then your actual dlist only holds pointers.

You can then make that column read only and update it from anohter cube. It wont look as good but and i think you will have to disable slice and dice else it will go really wrong.
Also it could be quite tricky if you need to do calcualations.

Not all that neat a solution but I've seen similar work.

Alternatlively if you dont need to see the results immediatly you could run a automated process say once a day to publish then update dlists in analyst from the publish data, and then syncronise back into CEP.

Either way your options are limited and I'd suggest you use a different approach or tool.

thanks
