Hi,

I am trying to setup initial groups and roles in Cognos 10.2.1. We have siteminder and an Active Directory to authenticate users.

In Cognos Administration, when I click on the 'Cognos' namespace and try to 'Set Properties', I am able to add/remove existing users and roles and grant permissions. However, there is no "Members" tab. When I click the Administration->Security->Capabilities tab, and try to Set properties for Administration, an "403-Forbidden: Access is denied. You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied" error page is shown.

I have run the AddSysAdminMember script to add 'everyone' to the System Administrator role. I  have also set the "Allow Anonymous access" to True. No credentials are required to login as of now.

How do I enable access to Secured Functions and Features?

Hi,

If I'm understanding correctly, you are going into the properties of the Cognos namespace itself, not navigating into the namespace then setting properties on the groups and roles within, is this correct? If so, then there will not be a "members" option - the namespace itself does not have members. It has groups and roles within it, and you need to edit the properties of a group or role within the namespace to define its members...

Cheers!

MF.

Thank you for your reply.

The problem was with some characters being rejected by SiteMinder. So for some pages with these special characters, the 403 -Access denied message showed up. More info in the link below -
