Hi All,

I have two databases (different connections) in my FM (Both Relational). I have been able to connect them together and create reports that use the data from both of them. However, when I run a report from my folder (public folders) I am prompted to choose one of connections for one of the database. e.g. I have DB 'AA' and 'BB'. The prompt asks me to choose connection for DB 'AA' from connections 'AA' or 'BB' (Radio buttons).

I have been through IBM documentation(Link at the end) and it says a it is an error in 10.2.1 (versions before it are supposedly free from it). My question is that since the bug was found an year ago, short of asking for a fix from IBM (does anyone know how long it would take to get a fix from them?)  is there any other way around this problem?

If anyone has had the same problem and was able to get help from IBM could you please share your experience?

Thanks

Hi,

what you can do is, go to the set properties option of the report. in that under the report tab there is an option for "Prompt Values'. you can select the connection from there and uncheck the prompt for values option.

do try this and let me know if it meets your requirement.

Regards

I also recall an issue in a specific build of Cognos 10 - I think it was the 10.2.1 original release - where reports based on a package connecting to multiple data sources would generate a spurious data source login prompt. It was fixed quite promptly, as I recall (hee hee - promptly) :). What version of Cognos 10 are you using? Could it be this issue?

Hi -

We had upgraded from 10.2  to 10.2.1 and had an issue that the reports started prompting to choose a data source connection. We contacted IBM support and then asked us to install a pack and then it was fixed. You might want to contact
their support.
