User-defined functions not showing correct screen tips

Hi

We recently upgraded from Cognos 8.3 to Cognos 10.1. We have several functions which are included in our framework model. These all have custom screen tips assigned to them, to assist developers when developing in Report Studio.

While these screen tips all displayed correctly in Cognos 8.3, in Cognos 10.1 the same screen tip from the first function repeats for all remaining functions.

Any assistance on how to resolve this will be appreciated.

Thanks

Penny

I noticed this problem with 10.1 as well.

When you are creating a query calculation and click on a function in available components you don't see the correct screentip.  I noticed this only applies to custom functions.   The built-in database functions display their tips correctly.

However, if you actually insert your function into the expression definition, and then click on the function name inside the definition, you will see the correct tip.

Hope this works for you.

Hi. Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, clicking on the function name in the expression definition window doesn't do anything. Is there some setting I have missed?

Hi again

I checked our custom functions within Framework Manager.  In fact, it is the syntax Tip, not the screen Tip that is displayed when I click on the function name inside the Expression Definition.  Perhaps just make sure that your syntax Tips are populated.
