Using filters on active reports

Hi, hope someone can give me some advice concerning an active report and filtering.

I have an active report with a filter (Data Toggle Button Bar).
I want to filter a combination chart on a data item that is not used in the chart itself, but is of course included in the dataset.
When creating a new connection from the source control to the target control, it isn't possible to select the data item, because it is not included in the chart.

Is there another way to make this work?
In fact i want to filter the dataset, in stead of the chart itself.
I don't want to use a prompt page, because it has to be an active report, everything on 1 page.

Thanks in advance!

even if the data item is in your chart, you cannot filter a chart in active reports. you can only do a select/highlight.

if you really need to achieve such functionality, you need to generate a different chart (for each filter condition) in a data deck for example and show the particular deck for the corresponding chosen values.

As Khayman says, you can't filter charts in Active Reports because the charting engine is not embedded into the rendered MHT file so no re-rendering of charts can be done.

The technique is to bring in a data deck based on the data item you want to "filter" on.
Drag the chart inside the data deck
Add the same data item to the query of the chart
Right-click the chart and choose "Master/Detail" and set up a link between the item in the chart query and the item in the data deck query.

Now all you need to do is to set up a link between the data toggle button bar and the data deck using a variable.

If you are on 10.2.1 onwards you can use vizualisations instead. These are based on the RAVE engine and can be filtered in an Active Report.

Cheers!
