Cognos Mobile from Safari hangs

Hi,

I'm hoping someone can help with an issue we've been having for months.  IBM support hasn't been able to figure this out, and they've asked us to contact Apple support.  Here's a description of our issue.

We're not using the Cognos app from the iPad store, we're entering our Cognos URL into Safari and they we're prompted for either Mobile or Desktop.  When we choose Desktop we get into Cognos Connection with no issues.  When we choose Mobile it just hangs and never resolves, staying on the splash screen.  We've done Fiddler traces and for some reason it looks like Safari thinks the Cognos cookie is from a third party or advertiser.  We can't open the browser up as this prevents a security risk.

We're at a loss now and not sure how to proceed.  Has anyone else experienced this issue?  We're on 10.2.1 with no fixpacks.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I'm not very familiar with Safari, but since you are looking for ideas... If you do (temporarily) "open" the browser to accept 3rd party things, does it work then? If so, I would examine/increase your traces and probes to see what has given Safari the idea that it is 3rd party. Then if possible, configure the browser to accept just that one particular thing it doesn't like. I really do not know if you can do this with Safari like you can other browsers.

I know we had some issues with mobile, particularly on iPad. I am not the admin and did not do the Apple testing, but I know the app worked better after bringing things up to date (10.2.1.1 FP2 I think). Perhaps this affects the mobile Safari browser as well.

We do use the free app. Is there some reason you do not want to use it?
