Straight Average (not W.A)

I have some models that I'm trying to build that use a straight average over our 13 periods. I cannot find an easy way of calculating a normal average. I can get it to work if the row is a calculation because then the total periods is a calculation as well. The closest I can get is with the time average-time average calc option. But the problem is that it includes all of the zero data from the current year periods that dont have actuals yet. So the calculation is always way off. Is there an easy way to calculate a straight average? If I exclude all zero's then I could end up with a problem that a current year measure was actually zero and would be excluded from the calc.

You can try around with BiFs (like @MovSum with T method) or create some additional elements (showing whether there was data in period) and links (gathering the whole sum for averaging).

I am slow today, can you give me an example?

I want to calculate an average of "x" percentages over the fiscal year. But our users don't want to input the values that will calculate the percentages they just want to enter the percentages.
For example:
Period 1      Period 2         Period 3        Total Year
"x"            77%            79%              78%               78%

But I have to weight the "x" percentages on another criteria. So the average does not work the way that our users want.
