Difference b/w Workspace & Business insight

Hi,
Sorry for asking such a basic question. But I have never worked on these.
So just want to know the difference between
Cognos workspace & Business insight
Cognos workspace advanced & Business insight advanced
Are these only used by business users or
these are used by IT also ?

Hey juffin,

no wonder you are confused. IBM has changed the names of these two products in a release some time ago. From Cognos 10.1 to 10.1.1 ( i think)
Business Insight                  = Workspace
Business Insight Advanced  = Workspace Advanced
So there is realy no difference but the name.

Especially these both tools are considered to be used by the business users. While report studio is pretty powerfull, it is also very complex and desigend for professional report authors.
IBM Cognos Workspace is a drag & drop dashboard where you can use query/ data container as lists and charts from already created reports. its is very intuitive and has a "simple" gui.
Workspace Advanced is called the "small brother" of report studio, because you can create simpler reports. But also, and thats the kicker, workspace advanced delivers ad-hoc analysis. you can drag and drop your data and see instant results.
