how to download/export a dashboard created using Cognos Workspace

Hi,

I am trying to download/upload a dashboard created via Workspace ( Cognos 10.2). I could not figure out what could be the extension for dashboards as we have for Reports (eg. Myreport.xml). My search path has :
/content/package[@name='Common Reporting']/folder[@name='dash']/dashboard[@name='sampleDash'].
I would like to download this sampleDash dashboard and eventually upload the same somewhere ..

Is there a cognos API to do this stuff.
Any inputs will be of great help.

Hi,

You don't have the same "Copy to clipboard" option as with a report in Report Studio. The approved method of exporting/importing is to copy the workspace to a folder in the Public Folders area then use the deployment export/import options in the Admin console to deploy the folder to a deployment export, move this to your new server, and import it.

Thanks a lot for immediate turnaround. Just to have more clarity: As per my understanding, the dashboard contains, pagelets and portlet instances. I could download the files with pagelet extension and xml extensions. My dashboard sample has : "Global Area.pagelet", "Tab 1.pagelet" and a file : RES_1. But I could not download the dashboard as a whole.

The way to delpy the dashboard to another server is to use the deployment options in the Admin console. If you want the option to "Reset" each widget you will also need to deploy the underlying reports the widgets were based on, too.
