Bursted Report E-Mail Failures

In View Run History, I see the following messages on a mass burst report:

CNC-SDS-0410 The email message was not sent. Approximate message size: [101 KB] The Mail server returned this error: [Invalid Addresses]
CNC-SDS-0379 Unable to send a message to an email address. Please check the value: XXXX@.com
    A failure notification was sent.

I understand that the burst e-mail is failing due to an invalid e-mail address generated in the burst query.
This I know how to resolve.

My questions are related to monitoring these types of failures without having to go in to the Run History of every report.

  • To whom is the failure notification sent?  The default e-mail for the mail server set up in Cognos Configuration?
  • Does anyone have any best practices for monitoring these types of issues?

Any suggestions/thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Adam.

Hi,

Not to sure about the answer as i am also looking for the same. Just got to know from someone that we can check the failure mails in the SMTP server Badmail folder which is defined in the SMTP server properties. i havent tried it yet so not that sure.

External: You could set up a rule in your mail server that when an error is returned to Cognos, you'll get notified. Have your sysadmin help you with that.
Internal: You could have the burst in an agent created in Event Studio. Then, have an execution rule for errors to send you a notification.
