Hi All,

When I start building a Report Studio the first thing you have to so is selecting a Package.
When I select a Package, Cognos shows the hourglass with "loading Package"......
Normally I get the Report studio design with the package structure, but Cognos stays in the "Loading Package" screen..... until I get a TimeOut error.

What is Cognos doing at the back-end, when "loading Package" is displayed?

 Hi,

when selecting a package,
cognos internally search that package inside a content database when it gets it,
It fetches the info ffrom the content store and display the contents of package via application server to web server and then to page through cognos gateway components.

Your issue might be because your database server is responding late might be you have multiserver set up, network issue may arise and so on.

Hi Saumil,

Thanks for your input.
Additional info: when I use Framework Manager with this package, I have no issue.
I am able to test Query items ect. and create new items.
So I think Network and database sould be no trouble?

Hi,

Framework manager is a stand alone desktop comonent.
When you open a project from framwork manager, it first checks the connection with the server.
It directly does not connect to content store.
The package you create is stored in xml in physical location of your framework mgr,

On publishing, It stores the package in a content store. then you create reps using the published package name which will fetch from database.

Try to restart the server and then try bcz I also faced the same problem.

Hi saumil,

Thanks for your input.

I don't know what's happend this night, but now we are able to load the packages again.
I really hate this kind of issues  ;)

For now it's solved, but it would be nice when I can explain this behaviour.
