Report needs to be rerun multiple times before success

When running a new report or rerun an adjusted report in Report Studio the report hangs and I need to rerun it at least one more time before it shows any result.

Did anyone else have this experience before and what was the solution for it?

We saw this on one of the 10.x releases but I do not recall the exact version. The solution was to update to the subsequent service pack and it went away.
